What is an "Endocannabinoid Booster Serum" ?

The short answer, FS-Origins has designed and formulated our tinctures to interact directly with your body's endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS has receptors throughout your body, with high densities of receptors in your brain - these receptors, when triggered communicate to the brain and body by sending chemical signals that help your body in times of need.

Is CBD (CANNABIDIOL) a psychoactive cannnabinoid like THC (∆9-THC)?

No! CBD has many attributes, but, being psychoactive is not one of them. CBD is commonly used to address anxiety, and for patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, studies suggest that CBD may help with both falling asleep and staying asleep. CBD may offer an option for treating different types of chronic pain. CBD may offer relief in the cessation of smoking tobacco products. CBD may help with metabolite disorders.

Are CO2 Extracts the same as Ethanol Extracts?

NO. One of the greatest differentiating powers of supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and subcritical fluid extraction with carbon dioxide (CO2) is the tunable selectivity of the extraction workflow. This allows for extractors to selectively target the cannabinoids while avoiding other polar and non-polar elements of the cannabis plant like sugars, chlorophylls, waxes, fats/lipids, and pesticides (that are water-soluble). Ethanol cannot selectively target these molecules and acts as an aggressive solvent. Why it matters: When a cannabis product degrades over time due to the chemical breakdown of molecular bonds, products will lose their potency [THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids]. Under certain conditions like air oxidation, your products can also unexpectedly isomerize into other cannabinoids. The same rule applies to terpene potency as well. That means your product may not function, smell, or taste as expected when stored improperly or beyond its recommended shelf life. While some infusions and extracts may experience quality degradation in a short time span like ethanol extracts, others may stay fresh and usable indefinitely. The general consensus is that the average shelf life of ethanol extracts is about 6 and 18 months, depending on how well you store it. CO2 Extracts can stay actively preserved indefinitely if stored correctly. If you still have your product after two years, it is recommended that you replace it, as the active ingredients may become less active.

What is the correct dosage for me?

The human body, as well as our four legged friends, all react uniquely to the introduction of cannabinoids and it's important that you know what your body is telling you. If you feel 'different' it's up to you to decide if that change is acceptable. The bioavailability of our cannabinoids is very unique, FS-Origins has avid cannabis users that do not require the same amount of cannabinoids as when they would use competitors' formulations in the past. All of our Endocannabinoid Booster Serums come with a metered dosage dropper, we suggest starting on a smaller than usual dosage in order for your body to find its own path. The great news is that you cannot overdose on CBD, your body will build up small tolerances over time, but you are triggering receptors within your ECS and a little goes a long way when using pure cannabinoid extracts.

Do cannabinoids (CBD, THC, CBN, CBG, etc.) help relieve aniexty?

The term cannabinoids encompasses compounds produced by the plant Cannabis sativa, such as Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and Cannabidiol (CBD). Their actions occur mainly through activation of cannabinoid type 1 receptors or "CB1" receptors and cannabinoid type 2 receptors or "CB2" receptors. Hence, the cannabinoid receptors, the endocannabinoids, and their metabolizing enzymes comprise the endocannabinoid system (ECS) have been proven to induce diverse responses on anxiety- and other fear-related behaviors, thus cannabinoids help to reduce anxiety-like behaviors and panic attacks.

Do cannabinoids help reduce pain?

The discovery of this ‘endocannabinoid system’ has prompted the development of a range of novel cannabinoid receptor agonists and antagonists, including several that show marked selectivity for CB1 or CB2 receptors. An agonist is a chemical that binds to a receptor and activates the receptor to produce a biological response. In contrast, an antagonist blocks the action of the agonist, while an inverse agonist causes an action opposite to that of the agonist. Cannabinoids have shown in research settings, that cannabinoid-induced antinociception or a "reduced sensitivity to pain" is commonly expressed by recipients of cannabinoid treatments. For example by acting on vanilloid receptors, the endocannabinoid system has physiological and/or pathophysiological roles in the modulation of pain.

Do cannabinoids have a "therapeutic" role in combatting Parkinson's disease?

Recent studies have found that the endocannabinoid signaling system in particular the comprised two receptors, CB1 and CB2 receptors, has a significant regulatory function in basal ganglia and is involved in the pathogenesis of PD. Therefore, adding new insights into the biochemical interactions between cannabinoids and other signaling pathways may help develop new pharmacological strategies when battling and improving upon issues related to Parkinson Disease.
